The Cougar Fund A cougar sighting was officially confirmed in the state of Kansas by the Dept. of Wildlife and Parks. The cat was photographed by a deer hunter from his tree stand, as the lion approached. This is the 2nd wild cougar verified in Kansas since 1904 -in November 2007, a young male mountain lion was shot by a landowner in Barber County.
