Each year there are nearly 410,000 deaths and injuries caused by auto accidents involving teen drivers in America alone. Of all age groups, teens are the most likely to be involved in a fatal car crash. This can be attributed to lack of experience as well as lack of maturity behind the wheel. Recently, many states have instituted or increased a mandatory amount of driver's ed for young drivers which has proven to have a positive impact. But is there more we could be doing?

The answer is yes. Many countries around the world have mandated more extensive driver's education with great success. Germany, for example, requires a permitted driver to drive solely with an instructor for an entire year. This has been very effective; Germany has an automotive fatality rate 40% percent lower than the United States!
