Information

Company Overview:

This is a page designed to spread the word about dyscalculia - the 'math dyslexia'. It's listed as a learning disability in The World Health Organization and DSM-IV. Studies have shown that between 3.6 and 6.5 of the world population are affected - that's millions of people all over the world. Our guess is that less than 1% of these people even know that dyscalculia exists. Millions of people think they are stupid.

We need to change that. We need to spread the word. Dyscalculics count too.

Mission:
To spread the word - and educate dyscalculics, teachers, parents, friends and strangers about dyscalculia.

Finally! I was diagnosed with dyscalculia the second semester of my freshman year in college, and I'm a senior now. It's been an upward battle trying to get people to understand it, especially professors, and even the disabilities office here on campus. It's made my life in school so hard. Thanks for making this group!

This is a facebook page designed to spread the word about dyscalculia - the 'math dyslexia'. Dyscalculia has been approved as a real learning disability, in the same category as dyslexia, for decades. It's listed in The World Health Organization and DSM-IV. Studies have shown that between 3.6 and 6.5 of the world population are affected - that's millions of people all over the world. Our guess is that less than 1% of these people even know that dyscalculia exists.

That means that millions of people think they are stupid. It also means that millions of people are not getting the help they need to succeed in life. Dyscalculics have a normal or above normal IQ, but the learning disability causes problems in dealing with numbers. Problems that can be solved by a specific diagnosis, and learning/work methods designed individually. But because of the ignorance surrounding dyscalculia, teachers and doctors have no idea how to help.

We need to change that. We need to spread the word.
