Ranjan Evans went for a fair 50-50 ball, but that's no excuse for going all Bruce Lee on Drogba... there will most definitely be action taken in order to discipline Evans, as there should be. However, if Chelsea hadn't won the match, Ancelotti would have been furiious that Drogba's act prevented the ref from bringing out the red.

Shahid Hasan If Adebayor getting banned for violent conduct, Evans should too. It's totally unacceptable. Whether DD fake it or not, as a referee, Martin Atkinson should give the benefit of the doubt to injured footballer. I really hope that Martin Atkinson got relegated and Evans suspended indefinitely!

Alan van der Hilst That flying kick was truly disgraceful. This is the kind of thing the league needs to step up and punish. Whether he injured Drogba seriously or not. That kind of kick could break ribs. Evans needs a multiple game ban.

A Question for you all:
What do Eric Cantona and Johnny Evans share in common, aside from their obvious employment with AIG United?

chelsea fans, when is yuri zhirkov going to be fit again?
saw him play a preseason friendly against ac milan, he's quality

Another United loss, another Fergie rant... it's getting a bit old now.
The Ref was pretty awful both ways but Evans studs in the chest of Drogba was pretty low. Had it been the other way around SAF would have blown his top and Chewing Gum would have been everywhere.

The ESPNsoccernet Podcast Chelsea beat Manchester United 1-0 at Stamford Bridge thanks to a John Terry header, but does this mean the Blues are going to go on and win the title? Harry Harris thinks so. http://bit.ly/1Z81Io

Drogba has himself to blame for not getting the
penalty against Evans. Yes he was unlucky, but he built a reputation of being a
diver by his past indiscretions and he can’t be too aggrieved if the benefit of
the doubt goes against him. Referees are not robots, they are influenced by the
past behaviours of players, even if ...they won’t say so.
This is why I can never see the point in
players continually play-acting for penalties. Not only is it unseemly, it also
brands them a cheater, and when the 50/50 situations come around they
invariably fall against them. Maybe Drogba will wise up after this, but I am
not holding my breath.Read More

Calvin Okoth-Obbo also Arsenal definitely playing some great football recently

we've (Utd.) had a really poor record against other teams in the "big four" these past few years. i will say that this is the first time we've played well in one of these ties for a while however, as opposed to arsenal where we rode our luck, and liverpool where we were outplayed and just plain bad.
tactics were fine, a...nd i'm not part of the chorus saying that owen should have started. i thought that fletcher and anderson in particular were doing a great job of closing down deco and lampard. both teams looked likely to score, and the other drama just adds to why these super sunday games are the most entertaining to watch.
i think that overall though, while our squad is still good enough to hang with the rest, we are definitely slightly less deep than we've been in previous years. waiting to see on this Obertan fellow, but I'm interested to see if Ferguson will foray into the transfer market in january.Read More

I was left fuming after Evans tackle. So much so that when we scored that offside goal a fee minutes later I was somewhat downbeat with my celebrations.
I understand that we are seeing a case of the boy who cried wolf with Drogba involved but still to be booked after getting studs to the chest is humiliating! And being... surrounded by United fans telling me that Evans "went for the ball" (???) and that Drogba was "playing for it" made me all the more angry! If that foul had have happened to a United man I would have been lynched as a Chelsea fan!
Shame...
And while I am ranting what is with United being a bunch of whiners?? Moan moan moan moan moan... Shut up and play the game... Your throwing tantrums is not getting you an equalizer!
Good 3 points! Thank you Mr. Chelsea!!

Simon arsenal just do it again. they are unlike liverpool or your man utd or chelsea in which only a few of their players they can count on even less squad players. their squad players can play well and slot in beautifully. and most importantly score goals and provide a threat.
