The Electives Network Hi Prabhashini.

Firstly, you will need to decide whether you would like to go to a hospital associated with a university (in which case it might make more sense to go through the uni) or an independent hospital. Another thing worth considering is that if you apply through a unversity then you might have to pay tuition fees for the time you're there, which in the US can be quite costly. This information should be easy to find through a google search.

Once you have decided on a hospital then you will need to contact them. Emails can be a good place to start although from our experience you can't beat a telephone call. After you have been accepted then there is lots more to organise such as flights, visa, insurance etc.

We hope you have a wonderful elective!

The Electives Network

The Electives Network Thank you for you post. We are sorry but we are unable to give you access to The Electives Network unless you are a free student member of The Medical Defence Union in the UK, MDA National in Australia and Medical Assurance Society in New Zealand.

We have long term plans to expand into other countries and certainly parts of Europe within a few months. We will of course let you know when TEN is available to medical students in your country. In the meantime we wish you an enjoyable elective and hope our presence on Facebook will give you contact with many students who are currently in a similar position so you can all share your elective planning ideas and queries.

We wish you a most enjoyable elective and thank you again for your interest in TEN.

Kind regards
