One of the most ambitious and inspiring local films ever produced, The Girl Who Lived, is celebrating its final release on DVD!
After six years in development and production the film is finally available to the world!!
The Girl Who Lived is a full-length feature film produced, written ...and directed by Merlin Live, an independent Illawarra-based film and theatre company.
The movie tells the story of the Holocaust as a series of dark and visually stunning fairy tales… Premiering to rave reviews at the Illawarra Performing Arts Centre in August of this year; the film is the product of the collective creative passions of hundreds of local performers and artists.
The story of the film’s creation is one that begins in late 2003 and incorporates the involvement of Cast, Crew and Production Team from the Illawarra, Southern Highlands and Sydney. The process of bringing this film to life has been a long and trying one…“The project itself was such an epic undertaking that it was very important to me that we captured that experience in as much detail as possible” said Director, Adam Loughlin.
“Every moment of our journey has been preserved through documentary footage for good and for bad! It is certainly a truthful, no-holds-bared look at what it takes to make a film… Both through laughter and through tears…”
Taken from hundreds of hours of behind the scenes footage – this special, 2 disc DVD edition includes a three hour documentary that chronicles the development of the film all the way through to post production and almost five hours of audio commentary, image galleries, deleted scenes and more!
