The Golden Girls is an American sitcom that originally aired on NBC from September 14, 1985, to May 9, 1992. It can now be seen in syndication frequently on the Lifetime cable network in the United States, Living/Living2 in the UK, FOX Classics in Australia, TV4 Komedi in Sweden and Nelonen in Finland. The series is produced by Buena Vista Television, a subsidiary of The Walt Disney Company.
Mission:
The sitcom was originally conceptualized by NBC executive Brandon Tartikoff and created by Susan Harris. Tartikoff was visiting his elderly aunt one day, and saw how she and her next-door neighbor, who also was her best friend, interacted with each other. Despite their constant bickering and arguments, they were still the best of friends, and loved each other. He thought that would make a great premise for a TV show.

i just love the golden girls,it doesnt matter how many times you watch them,you still get a laugh everytime.i love them all..and its a shame we have lost Estelle getty..she was great.michele white,sydney,australia.

I love the cast of the Golden Girls. My children love them also. My youngest this is nine years old looks forward to the show. You always know when it starts...she always sings the song lol. It sadden me deeply when I heard that Estelle Getty died. My daughter called me late at night while I was at work and told me. Rest in Peace Estelle. Ihope that the rest of the cast memebers..Betty White, Rue McClanahan, and Beatrice Arthur are all in great health.

Estelle was the best Golden Girl, she will truly be missed! :(
