I was at Sam's Club last Saturday with my husband. He always wants to go on Saturdays because it is free sample day--smoked sausage, exotic pizza, gourmet cheeses...good stuff. This week they were giving out samples of Fruit Roll-ups, which...

2010 is almost here. Christmas music is being played on the radio and holiday decor has flooded the front aisles of Walmart. The fast approaching holiday season has made us start thinking of projects we want to tackle in 2010. One project we have wanted to do from Day 1 is a community-written book....

The House Studio We are trying to decide on the cover for our newest book:
The Mosaic Experiment: Bringing Old Testament Practices Out of Retirement.

This is a look at practices and rituals from the Pentateuch that can still be applied in present day.

Which cover do you like?

Just admit it. Christian conferences can get weird, with a capital W. Stadiums packed out with young, single evangelicals who are all convinced that God told them they would meet their spouse this weekend. Doctrine debates on every corner, in every restroom line...

Hi Melinda,

Thanks for your feedback!

Something I failed to convey in the post is that Winner wasn't saying that we WILL be this kind of Church within 100 years (she kind of smirked throughout the whole speech as if to say "we wish") Instead, she was trying to convey what she personally believes the Church SHOULD be.... Read More

How great that you are meeting within your homes to commune over Scripture, food, and singing!! I agree, no matter how great the Sunday morning teaching is, we were meant to live much more intimately and communally with our brothers and sisters in Christ.

It's my thoughts that Sunday is about professing faith, not necessarily "being fed," which is a consumeristic approach to faith community. So I applaud your decision to stick with your local Church while seeking out Bible study. We could all learn from you in this way.

Maybe your Church is like mine, diverse in your ideas about God, but trying to seek out Christ and love one anothe-- even in the midst of our limited human understanding and differences!

One of my favorite quotes by Saint Augustine says:

"In essentials, unity; in non-essentials, liberty; in all things charity."

I get the feeling from your comments that you want the same thing.

Great to dialogue with you! Hope there is more in the future.

I suppose it really is that simple; whether or not I'm open to change in an area that I consider valuable. I can choose to adapt or hold firm. Either way, its my decision.

But, part of the frustration comes from somebody else deciding for me. CD's are the perfect illustration, because I'm sure in the not-so-distant future, the record companies are going to pull the plug on distributing CD's. Therefore, I'm forced to adapt to something I was already hesitant about. And the decision was made for me. ... Read More

I'm kind of surprised you so easily adapted to the digital era of music. Because I know that you're just as big of a music nerd as I am.
