The Icy Shores
Countrymen-
October 24th, as you may know, is a BIG day. Let's think of a few things that have happened on October 24th:
1. Way back in 1901, Anna Edson Taylor became the first person to survive going over Niagara Falls in a barrel!
2. Back in 1940, the 40 hour work week went into effect under the Fair Labor Standards A...ct of 1938!
3. Throughout the 1970's, a number of people I know were born!
This coming October 24th, we'll be adding another to that list of major milestones: never a group to sit on the sidelines and let history pass us by, The Icy Shores have prepared to participate in an extravagant October 24th soiree, celebrating 21 years of Catlick Records! Seriously! If you need to go the bathroom right now, it's ok. I'll wait.
Ok, now that we've all settled down, get ready for some serious DETAILS:
Catlick Records 21st Anniversary Showcase
Saturday, October 24th @ the Triple Rock Social Club
10pm - 21+
From start to finish:
Bret Rodysill
The Icy Shores
Dairyland Youth
The Caspian Depression
It will be a night jam packed with October 24ishness! Our bass player, southern gentleman that he is, will probably be wearing a barrel hung via suspenders, in tribute to his personal hero, Anna Edson Taylor. For myself, I will cram at least 40 hours worth of rocking into our pleasantly-short 35 minute set. And drummer Nick will just emote like you won't believe. See you Saturday!
Party!

The Icy Shores
Day Laborers-
Today, on this national celebration of toil and sweat, I ask you to set aside just a few minutes to think of a much maligned group of your industrious comrades: local rockers that play in awesome bands. Think of the late nights, the heavy lifting, the broken strings, the hand cramps on stage, the feeling ...of being paid with sketchy booze rather than real money. Or think of being the person that has to carry the drum "throne", or of sending out countless witty/charming emails begging people to come and spend a weeknight with you, or of finally grafting together "La Bamba" and "Margaritaville" perfectly, only to realize your fuddy duddy bass player doesn't like either song!
Anyway, you get the picture, I think. It's hard to play in an awesome local band. But we struggle through anyway, for you - our most beloved compatriots. We'd like to invite each of you to participate in a show of brotherly and sisterly unity this Saturday night, at the new/improved Sauce Spirits & Soundbar on Lake and Lyndale in Minneapolis. It's gonna be great:
Telapathos play first
The Icy Shores play second
Condo$ play last
Saturday, Sept 12th
Show starts at 9:30, cover is $5, and you must be 21.
Sauce's info is here: www.spiritsandsounds.com
Our info is here: www.theicyshores.com and here: http://www.myspace.com/theicyshores
To labor! Huzzah!

Time:9:00PM Saturday, September 12th

The Icy Shores
Ladies and gentlemen-
If you look up "kidlovers" in the dictionary, you know what you see? Don't bother looking, I'll just tell you: you see a big picture of The Icy Shores' faces, gleaming at you with a "you know I looooove kids" kind of smile. We love kids so much that certain members of the band actually have their... own children. I know, you're wondering: how do they retain their figures after having children? Great question! Unfortunately, we can't tell you the answer. Here's a consolation prize:
Friday, July 24th (THAT'S THIS FRIDAY)
The Icy Shores with Bad Idea and Careers In Modeling
Eclipse Records, St. Paul
SUPER DUPER ALL AGES SHOW - BRING YOUR CHILDREN
Show starts at 7 and will finish by 10:15.
$5
In the looooooong history of The Icy Shores, never before have we played an all ages show, much to the disappointment of our car-less junior high fanbase. So now's the time to break out the earplugs and bring your toddlers, awkward 10 year olds, and junior-rockers down to Eclipse Records, all while still retaining their reasonable-but-not-overly-restrictive bedtimes.
Eclipse Records is here.
Good luck, see you Friday!

Everyone:
We're not playing at Stasiu's on Friday with a bunch of awesome bands. JUST KIDDING! APRIL FOOLS! WE ARE PLAYING AT STASIU'S THIS FRIDAY WITH A BUNCH OF AWESOME BANDS. LOL!@!@!
Seriously though, we are. It's going to be Friday night, well into the month of April, which everyone knows is "super party on Fri...days" month. This Friday will be no exception. Stasiu's is filled with really nice people, they have a late-model pinball machine, and they make a more-than-serviceable pizza. Which you should let cool off before you start eating it, particularly if you plan on using your mouth for anything like singing on stage in the following few hours. Oh man, I DIGRESS! The details:
Here's how the lineup goes, from first to last:
The Golden Chariots of Mars
The Icy Shores (that's us)
The Rockford Mules
Revolver Modele
Bands may start a bit earlier than the time listed, but that's the general idea. Either way, you should come at 9:45 and leave around 2:00. The show is at Stasiu's, as mentioned, which is a bar in NE Minneapolis. $5, 21+, this Friday 4/3.
Also, the show won't be any fun and only dorky people will be there. HAHAHA JUST KIDDING GOT YOU AGAIN. EVERYONE THERE WILL BE FUN AND REALLY REALLY COOL. APRIL FOOLS!
Party!
