The internet is set to undergo one of its biggest changes, with the expected approval of plans to introduce web addresses using non-Latin characters.

A very nice idea in principle, and once users find out how to use [Alt]+[n] combinations, then typing addresses'll be no difficult task. :-)

Unfortunateley I can see this becoming a major bonus to operators of phishing sites, as many wouldn't spot the crucial difference between paypal.com and paypäl.com. :-\

It'd also mean legitimate operators would have to register the hundreds of domain variants if they want to "protect" their domains and online identity. :-|

because when smart appliances (lighting, refridgerators etc) become more popular, they will need their own IPs for addressing, so that they may order food if you're getting low, or so you can remotely turn your lights on, or lock/unlock your doors...even the explosive growth of the Internet, and its continued spread to rural areas ... IPv4 can only supply 4.3 Billion addresses...
IPv6 is a 128 bit address, and can supply 2^128 adresses, (or, written out, 34 followed by thirty-seven 0's)
