The Jerrys, a British-influenced guitar-pop band from Chicago, Illinois, are the sounds of Jerry Schwartz, who writes, plays, sings, and produces their music. Since their first self-released CD, the Jerrys have continued to release original indie pop confections on a regular basis. The Jerrys are the jangly whim of one man--a whim with an edge and a sound of its own.
Pop Go The Jerrys, their debut album, was released in 2001 and included fourteen original songs, the earliest of which was written in 1982. Listeners' comparisons ranged from Boyce & Hart to The Who to Matthew Sweet. The follow-up CD, Jerryrigged, was released two years later. After a number of Internet singles, Best of The Jerrys--their first album to be made available on iTunes--was compiled and released in 2006.
By this time, Schwartz had stopped playing music so that he could focus on writing and editing his first novel, conceived years before. After eighteen months, the novel was done, and Schwartz set to work on a new Jerrys CD. The result, What the World Could Use a Lot More Of, was released in November 2008 and is now available on iTunes, Amazon, and CD Baby. While Schwartz has started a second novel, he has also begun working on a new full-length Jerrys release that he promises will have a few surprises.
There's lots more music on the way, so stay tuned. This is one band that won't be breaking up anytime soon.
