We need your support! Between the prisons and county jails throughout the state, over 100,000 families have someone either incarcerated, on parole or supervision, or facing criminal charges. Although we do not condone criminal activity, we do believe that all men, women, and juveniles who may find themselves involved... with the system should be treated fairly and humanely. The John Howard Association is the watchdog to help ensure this fair treatment. If we can get each family whose loved one is affected by the system to donate between $5 and $10, it will again place the organization on solid ground and enhance our ability to advocate for those who are often times forgotten. I know the struggles of the incarcerated firsthand. Please join me in supporting JHA, and make a small donation. There is strength in numbers.

JHA Exec. Dir. Hanke Gratteau applauds Gov. Quinn for releasing 1,000 non-violent prisoners, "We should be using tax dollars wisely to be locking people up who present a physical threat to the community. But to just lock people up to punish them without programming doesn’t make any sense. If you take these people out o...f the system, you free up money to focus on helping people get jobs, go to school and set them on a better path.”Read More
