Undeniable, after maintaining an individual presence on Friendster, and being thoroughly relieved to retreat behind a musical prof...ile when Myspace came around, I was ready for the evoIution of social networking to cease. Risking redundancy: I was happy with the two pronged progression; three prongs form a pitchfork, a tool of Satan.

Seriously, with all solemnity, I dial in now to invite you to the House of Shields this Saturday night, October 3rd, to witness three roots-growin'-outside-the-box acts band together for the most unoffical Hardly Strictly Bluegrass after-party of the night!

Magic! Magic Roses (http://www.myspace.com/magicmagicroses) are opening at 9. They’re new to me, and I’m looking forward to hearing them live. To my ear, their recordings (especially "Jacks") cast them as an introverted, more mysterious Roches. Intriguing!

Danny Cohen (http://www.anti.com/artists/view/8) is headlining. I saw him play at Argus Lounge last year, and fell in love with his truly original, refreshing music and songwriting. Sample line that won’t leave my head: "In my favorite Twilight Zone, the pretty girl was all alone/Ugliness became the norm, and everybody lived in dorms."
