Each summer, the Kentucky Theater hosts a Summer Classics Series, showing a different classic film each Wednesday throughout the summer. The lead-in to the film includes a serial and a silent film, in an attempt to commemorate the movie house tradition.
In the late 90s, the city renovated and reopened an adjoining theater. It is referred to informally as the State Theater, although it is operated as a secondary facility for the Kentucky.
