| Mission: | The Liberal magazine is devoted to a renaissance in liberal politics and the liberal arts. First founded in 1821 by the Romantic poets Percy Shelley, Lord Byron and Leigh Hunt, the magazine seeks to regenerate liberalism and reinvigorate the public sphere. Alongside reportage and political and economic analysis, we publish philosophical essays, poetry, music scores, photography and short fiction from around the world. Contributors since the relaunch in 2004 include Harold Bloom, Christopher Hitchens, Marina Warner, Martin Rees, Ariel Dorfman, Al Alvarez, Helen Suzman, Wole Soyinka, Julia Kristeva, Matthew Parris, Germaine Greer, Slavoj Žižek, Elaine Showalter, Clive James and Simon Sebag-Montefiore. |
