Bronson Henderson This is in regards to the editorial in the paper today

Excuse me, but you have failed to acknowledge the fact that Mahlih's regalia is HANDMADE and succeptible to irreparable damage. SHE WEARS A FULL 10 PIECE+ BEADSET, HER BEADED CROWN WITH A REAL EAGLE FEATHER, AND HER HANDSTITCHED CHOCTAW DRESS. TIME HONORED TRADITIO...N OR NOT, SHE SHOULDN'T HAVE BEEN HIT WITH THAT WATER BALLOON. She was also in her role as ambassador, and was just trying to do what she was supposed to do. Had Miss Neshoba County, Miss USA or any title holder been hit in their dresses, that water could have mixed with red mud and ruined their dresses. Please don't try to brush this incident off as a harmless "time honored" tradition by throwing in big names like Payton Manning and Governor Barbour as examples. The fact remains those boys were wrong for their actions and should at least own to their actions and apologize.

    • Connie Chunn Willis If you were dressed formally off some where, would you want some little kid to be throwing water at you? The parents of the kids that done this should had stopped it from happening. Yes, they are kids and water balloons is what the fair is about. However, do not hit people you do not know with them.

      • Valerie Nicole I don't think it's too funny Mr. Thomas....Paige is a very sweet girl as I'm sure Mahlih is. That is very disrespectful when it has nothing to do with her. It was LITTLE KIDS having fun. EVERYONE THROWS WATER BALLOONS AT THE FAIR. Kids don't know how important her attire is and it stinks that it got wet but you people need to grow up and act like adults! Seriously!

      • Haroldlyn Skinner This is CRAZY....why would he even WANT to stop the new casino? From his standpoint, he SHOULD be thinking about the jobs it will create. Does he think that by NOT having that casino, he can stop low income people from gambling? THAT'S FUNNY. If people wanna gamble...they WILL find a way, no matter how far they have to drive. I don't see Barbour winning this. It's REDICULOUS !

Randi Williams Kids threw water balloons at the Choctaw Indian Princess at the Neshoba County Fair. They were sitting on the porch of the cabin and when the Choctaw Indian Princess was walking by they hit her and laughed. Our princess represented our tribe well as she still kept her head high and walked on. We are peaceful people. Th...is is the 20 century can we please over come the racial issues and teach our children that we all bleed red.

It's about the hardwork that took the person who made the dress and beadwork. Even water stains are hard to get out. We don't have Many people left in our tribe that can make beautiful things like that. Kids today are learning more and more... about what's outside of our culture. It's very sad. If you can't understand how fragile and sacred our culture means to us then you can stop reading now and I pray that God teaches you more about other people than just yourself. So, I'm not trying to create any more tension, but like I said our culture means alot and theyre very few of us left. I hope anybody doesn't twist my words to make unnecessary comments. YAKOKI!!!
