Good Sci-Fi 'Second Life' stylevirtual reality
by Jamie at 4:38pm on June 14th, 2008
Great film. I didn't see any 'spirituality' though like some reviewers. This was straight Sci-Fi. Man gets so into his virtual reality characters that he forgets what is real. Nothing 'spiritual' about that.
Amazing.

Hard to put into words how to describe this great movie, probably up there in my top five favorites. Just wish more people knew about it.

All i can say is OMG what a mind bender. It twists and manipulates your mind to near breaking point. The sheer thought of its my own reality 'what i have made it to be' just completely boggles me which is why i will be giving this film a solid 5/5.

i interpreted Margaret / Melissa / Mary and Sarah / Susan / Sierra as a sort of devil and angel figure. let me explain Margaret is the one holding Gary / Gavin / Gabriel in his own world where he does not belong and Sarah / Susan / Sierra is the being trying to set him/existence free. who is wrong and who is right is down to you.

I did have a little giggle to myself comparing this film to some popular online video games such as world of warcraft and runescape. The way it suggests that you have to put down the 'controller' to actually accomplish anything else in your existence. Although it does touch on this on the film.

if you enjoyed the thought processes involved in this film i would suggest you grab yourself a copy of Mulholland Drive, Donny Darko and The Fountain.

remember everything is what you think it is, but you are not who you think you are.
Mind Bender

My brain is still reeling from watching The Nines, a mind-bending movie that defies genre. Part comedy, part sci-fi thriller, part satire of reality television (and reality itself), it’s a remarkable film that interweaves three stories together in a way I haven’t seen since Pulp Fiction.

Ryan Reynolds turns out to be a good actor, not just a pretty face (and body). He does a great job playing three very different characters, as does Melissa McCarthy.

I think The Nines can be grouped alongside other metaphysical films like I Heart Huckabee’s (one of my favorites!), Being John Malkovich, and A Scanner Darkly – movies that entertain you but also leave you asking existential questions and wondering about the true nature of reality. This movie takes “you create your own reality” to a whole new level. I found myself deconstructing myself after watching the movie.
Stellar

this is by far the most amazing movie i have ever seen. it gives your spirituality that little burst it needs to rise again. i honestly cannot say i have ever seen a movie like this. i am still in awe of the reality this movie creates.
New & Thought Provoking- Amazing
by Betzy at 2:57pm on March 30th, 2008
I just wrote a paper on this movie. It's def one of my faves now. The story is like nothing I've seen or read before, it's so thought provoking. It asks all these questions, but doesn't answer them- it just leaves you thinking about things you never thought to really dwell on. I love how it has a spiritual theme to it to as well. I love Ryan Reynolds in this. He's like amazing good in this.

Ive Watched Most of his movies , the only 1 that I aint watched is Smoking Aces ..... just daint fancy it ..... Definately,Maybe was ok ... Van Wilder is the topper.
U cant beat the origional Amytyville's, Ryan doesn't suit being in a horror movie, he should stick to Comedy. That's what he does best I think XXX

1 - Basically use 6 threads and tie them together at the ends.

2- Split them into 3 sets of 2 threads.

3 - Use a standard plait..
- That is right over the center.
- Then left over the centre.
- Start again.

4 - Once done ties the ends and then tie around whoever's wrist.

Hi all, I don't have a copy of the movie anymore, but does anyone know how to make the green arm band he's making at the beginning of the film?
