Rob Fennell The Oxford Comma is a beautiful thing. But what about these damn writers who join independent clauses with a comma, what's wrong with them?

Thomas Suarez Are we OCs a voting block with which our respective governments must reckon?

Kyle Mortimer love Jurgen Boerema's completely missed reference to Vampire Weekend totally amazing band but I do also love the Oxford Comma. Short, sweet, and massively under-rated!

Rachel This is my favorite punctuation mark of all time! Even the stylish and useful semi-colon doesn't measure up to the beauty of an Oxford comma.

Julia I give a fuck about an Oxford Comma because it's good enough, it's smart enough, and dog-gone it, people like it.

Jurgen Boerema
Who gives a fuck about a oxford comma?
I've seen those english dramas too
They're cruel

Michael P. Moran May I remind everybody that the 'M' in ATM already stands for machine? The 'N' in PIN already stands for number? It would appear that less is more whether you like it or not.

Piper Kroeze i didn't know there was a name for this comma. I use it, and I'm always told I'm wrong... it's great to know there is a group of people who know what is correct!

Isabel Redondo No, no, no AND NO!!! BOOOooo...well, with certain exceptions, of course...

Michael Christopher Feeney I feel like I can admit this here: that I've used the Oxford comma with serial inconsistency, sometimes in the same paragraph. I couldn't decide if it suited me stylistically, but from now on I'm just gonna say screw it; it's Oxford comma full-on all the time with no shame, embarassment, or regret.

Thomas Suarez But should we consider the aspect of Carbon Footprint? All the ramifications of that extra speck of ink? Maybe all Oxford Commas should be powered by solar panels. They would then offer a socially-responsible role model for the commas preceding them.

Heather ...because it's smart, it's sensible, and it's worth the extra time.

Thomas Suarez
comrades...
I would to mention another HORRIFIC INJUSTICE (!!!) that is philosophically related to the Oxford Comma issue: the use of apostrophes before an "s" denoting the plural. For example (and it causes me anguish even to cite these clinically) <the 1960's was a decade of upheaval> <Mahler 6 is sold as a set of 2 ...CD's> --- and the like. No surprise that mainstream media like the NY Times have been doing this for years now, but alas this THREAT TO CIVILIZATION has been slowly creeping up upon even otherwise sane individuals.
For a long time I thought that armed resistance was the only answer to this crisis. But perhaps a draconian tax on the abusive apostrophes? In the US, for example, such a tax could easily fund a national health system.
