The Parks Trust GLOBAL FUN AT THE WORLD PICNIC

Campbell Park is the place to be for a truly international experience when the World Picnic celebrates the music, dance, food and cultures of the globe on Sunday 25 July.

This fabulous free event, presented by The Parks Trust and Milton Keynes Council features a host of activities to keep t...he whole family amused. On the main stage there will be Bollywood dancers, African choirs, belly dancers, live music, story telling and some special surprises on the day.

For visitors wanting a more ‘hands on’ experience there’s also a chance to get involved in drumming, belly dancing and Bollywood dancing workshops.

Claire Lewis, Events and Recreation Coordinator at The Parks Trust, said: “The action takes place from 1pm to 6pm so there’ll be plenty of time to pack your own picnic or try some of the tempting treats on offer from the food stalls. This year the World Picnic is part of the International Festival and it promises to have more to do and see than ever before.”

On the Campbell Park events plateau the International Festival will be putting on a range of food-themed performances. These include the incredible Festive Road carnival arts company who will be giving tea drinking a unique twist with a performing tea set and their giant musical kettle.

Parking is available at John Lewis or Avebury Boulevard car parks, Campbell Park, Milton Keynes

The Parks Trust Our first lambs are back out in the fields. Farmer Luke informs us that we're likely to have 584 lambs this year - not all at the same place of course.

If you haven't had your first lamb fix this year take a walk to the Wolverton Mill Balancing Lakes, near the A5 and just off the Stratford Road. There's a car park close... to the Wolverton House Pub, from there cross the main road and there's a path running round the edge of the field.

The lambs are very small and white and haven't quite yet got into lamb gangs - but its only a matter of time.

The Parks Trust We’ve set up a new venture selling high quality lamb and beef reared on parkland and meadows in Milton Keynes.

Instead of just sending our cattle to market we’ve decided to sell our beef and lamb locally in a box scheme.

Its called Parkland Produce and you can see more details at www.parklandproduce.co.uk
            ...
The lamb and beef comes from sheep and cattle which have been carefully reared on Parks Trust land. We use grazing animals to sensitively manage our meadows in order to encourage a greater diversity of wildflowers and wildlife.

All profits from the sale of Parkland Produce will be invested back into maintaining the city’s beautiful parks and landscapes, whether this is helping to create new parks, planting trees and shrubs, maintaining footpaths, providing community events or teaching school children about farming, nature and the environment .

This is a genuinely local initiative. Lamb and beef can be purchased on-line and is delivered in chilled boxes to your home or work place in Milton Keynes.
