The Rainbow Community Center Of Contra Costa County
With unemployment on the rise, more and more people losing their homes, and people all around us dying... there are a lot of things to feel sad about. However, there are still many reasons to be thankful.
For some its having a home over their heads, a supportive family, an amazing boyfriend, partner or Husband, or even ...a good friend... but maybe its the little things that make you thankful... coffee with an old friend, finding $5 in a pair of jeans or perhaps a sale at Joann fabrics (no wait, that's what Im thankful for!)
No matter what you are thankful for, be sure to give thanks. And tonight is your chance. We will discuss the many things we have to be thankful for... and come up with some ways to give back to our community. Volunteering at a foodbank or donating to a Canned Food drive... helping a friend move or just giving them a place to stay while they get on their feet. Each of us have the power to make a difference.

Wearing Masks and makeup on Halloween is fun... but some of us still wear a "mask" on a daily basis to hide who we really are. Some are afraid of rejection, of prej...udice... perhaps they arent ready to share who they truly are.
Whatever the reasons, the days of hiding are over. And tonight we will discuss the pros and cons.

The Rainbow Community Center Of Contra Costa County Brotherhood First "Focus" will be discussing "Masks" tonight... the faces we put on to "blend in" or feel excepted. TONIGHT at 6:30 in the RCC Library! (Sorry for the last minute notification)
The Rainbow Community Center Of Contra Costa County is about to lose its religion tonight at 7:00 pm as the Men's Multicultural Group discusses homosexuality and its conflicts with many world religions.
The Rainbow Community Center Of Contra Costa County is greeting our very own Kkassanova Shields a very happy 30th birthday today.
The Rainbow Community Center Of Contra Costa County Join us this Thursday, Oct 22 from 7 to 9 at the home of Bob Switzer for PFLAG. We will be showing the movie Torch Song Trilogy and having a discussion afterwards. There will be coffee, juice and baked goods provided. Please call the RCC for directions

Didn't our parents say never to discuss religion with other people if we want to make them our friends? Well, to hell with that now.
The elephant in the room has been sitting among us. We sort of tackled it in almost every single meeting we've had, but we've never dealt with it as a major foc...us of our discussions. Not the way we're going to do it this time.
We'll get to the nitty-gritty of our homosexuality and the struggles it faces when it comes in contact with our personal faiths. Why is it so common for us to feel that the two just don't mesh together? Why do gay people get so burnt by the church? Why are churches so against to welcoming us in general? And, what should be done to reconcile the two? Or, is there really a need to?
Just like last time, this could be a very hot topic. I encourage everyone to keep an open mind when participating in the discussion. Bring some tasty snacks and cold drinks to share since this event is also a potluck one.

Do you like a good scare? Do you want to get lost in a corn maze? How about wonder what it's like to get buried alive? Well, if you are curious or just up for a good old-fashioned spook, join us as we brave the horror of one evening over at the Sanctuary Of Evil in Oakley, CA. Features include a 7,000 sq. ft. corn maze..., a pirate ship and a coffin ride. All for $7.00 per person.

The Rainbow Community Center Of Contra Costa County is not going to have its Brotherhood SkillZ meeting tomorrow night at all, but watch out for further announcements on the remaining two Brotherhood First events this month.
The Rainbow Community Center Of Contra Costa County hope to see all of the Boys out tonight for Brotherhood First "Focus" as we discuss "FEAR"... come on out and share with us what you are afraid of... and bring a bag of your favorite Halloween Candy to share :)
