Gary Tennis There's no place i'd rather be than The Outer banks. I was in Ocean sands May 16th - 23rd . Had a semi oceanfront home 25 yards from the beach.It's the first time we went in May. Next time will be July for sure. Water ocean temps are too cold and general weather is mid to upper 70's.But overall , we had a great time....Can't wait to go back....

Logan Bragg Curious -- What is the "open container" law in OBX? I was walking my dog on a side street with a beer in my hand, and a cop drove by. He didnt stop but it made me think. I know you can drink beer on the beach. Can you take a walk with a beer?

I have been told that there is no open container law in NC, but have never been able to verify or refute that claim. I would love to know the answer to it.

John Taylor For those that are coming to visit the OBX the is a beautiful new Harris Teeter in Southern Shores. The place is amazing. Great seafood, meat, deli, bakery and produce. Right behind the McDonalds and next to Walmart. Check it out. Good Bye Food Lion. And the employees are friendly and helpful to boot!!!!

20 days for my family! The countdown is on! (And has been for several weeks!)

Anne Marie May parents started vacationing in the Outer Banks in 1957. At that time you had to bring ALL of your supplies. If you didn't bring it - you didn't have it. The Outer Banks will always be my favorite vacation place. There is something about being there that will set your soul free. If my husband would let us live there year 'round - I would in a heart beat! :)

Logan Bragg Something new this summer when you visit any of the public beach accesses...Those that smoke cigarettes -- vere to the LEFT of the lifeguard stand. Those that dont...head to the RIGHT of the lifeguard stand. Good luck! Pass the word!!!! And if you smoke, please pick up your butts! Our beaches are beautiful. Thanks and have a great summer.

I wish. I was talking to the local branch of Surfriders about this and they said because there are no laws, you really cant enforce it, but this summer they are doing a big campaign about not smoking on the beach and picking up your butts.

Arlene Bowling I just returned from Hatteras,I love this place so much & I am very blessed to have friends that allow us the use of thier home anytime of the year we can go.So seeing this wonderful place at all times of the year is truelly wonderful..
