Seriously, since I became a fan of the real, I've become a much better person (and it shows!!)... highly recommended for people with self-esteem issues.

ItsTheReal - Because TRYING to keep it real just doesnt make sense.

The short sketches are intended to hit that smirk you get from the Office, Arrested Development, etc, just this time for the Hip Hop enthusiast. And it's on point. From shining a light on the irony of record labels buying their own cd's to hip hop artists being forgotten a year after being hailed (lloyd banks) to playing off the writer's strike by introducing the true innovators of ad-libs, these guys keep you engaged and yearning for more. The camera-work follows that quick move, or completely still shot, for which the Office is famous.

The abstract yet obvious humor is highlighted by the lack of a laugh track or any real strong pause forcing the audience to respond. It's quick where it should be, and paced otherwise.

Of course, the true test becomes the creativity as a backlog grows and the expectations and fans grow. I think this show fills a void for smart, unconventional humor that the Hip Hop genre needs.

I had to give them 5 stars, because they do it up big, they do it up right, and they are hungry as ever. Just wait. They are on the up and up will make it with their dedication, energy, and creative ways. Even though I am in the bible belt, the sticks, and the biggest intersection in town contains the college I attend and the stop-and-go market (in sweet Barbourville, KY, aka Barbourvegas), I have finally found a computer with hardware installed so I can watch THE REAL. I love their stuff and I am just happy I can finally express myself. All of the other message boards, I feel like you need a special name and password, so thanks to facebook for making it easy. From ER, J Rose, Danimal, and Mayo, to the rest of the crew that makes THE REAL, keep it up and I will see you down the road.
