This year's one-of-a-kind design celebrates a century of song — because for 100 years, Badgers everywhere have been signing "On, Wisconsin." In 1909, W.T. Purdy composed the melody and former UW student, Carl Beck, supplied the lyrics. The UW Band first performed the song on November 13, 1909. . . and it's been entertaining Badger fans ever since. In fact, it's now considered one of the country's most popular school songs. So it's only natural for The Red ShirtTM, a symbol of UW unity, to honor "On, Wisconsin" — a song that's been unifying Badgers for 100 years.
