The Ridiculous Race David, it's true that I put in ice - a single cube frozen from North Atlantic rainwater. I'd corresponded with the Earl of Strathclyde, whose charge d'affairs informed me that this was the only acceptable way of drinking a Kinclaith.

People send me a lot of jetpack related news these days and I haven't seen a device that's markedly better than Juan Lazano's yet. HOWEVER, this high pressure water pack is the first one I've seen that actually might be more useful than Juan's jetpack. (This is an admittedly low bar, since Juan's jetpack is the most useless thing I've ever seen with my eyeballs.) I will post my observations to this message board as soon as my order comes in.

Will having 400 fans spoil The Ridiculous Race, turning it from "the little book that could"/"sleeper word of mouth hit" into a "monstrous publishing blockbuster"? No! It won't!

Thanks to everybody who came out for the reading at Book Soup! Perhaps the finest tribute to Ridiculous Race readership is our consumption of an entire case of Falcon Ridge wine. We have it on good authority that Paul Theroux's fans rarely drink more than 3 bottles.
