Mapperton Farm in Dorset offers the crazy Kamikaze runner an 8 mile cross country course designed to test fitness, nerve and determination…are you up to the challenge?

The spurs and valleys of this amazing bit of land provide natural features which are further complemented by the radical and outrageous obstacles which h...ave been thrown in for good measure. In true Kamikaze fashion race numbers are worn on headbands and the largest down hill slope on the course is used to provide the runners a flying start with the traditional Banzai charge. With more mud, hills and challenging hurdles then you have ever seen, expect this to be one event you will never forget.

Frazer Gilles from Barclaycard who took part in last year’s event explains "The somewhat hilly Dorset landscape provided excellent terrain for the most ridiculous run I’ve ever taken part in. The joy of the near perfect conditions, sunshine and a slight breeze, lasted about as long as the starting pistol. This was greeted with a Kamikaze cry down the first near vertical slope straight into the peaty bog that waited for us at the bottom and the fun began! There is no denying that the course was hard work but it was also a great deal of fun and I can't wait to go for it again next year".

You can enter Kamikaze either as an individual or as part of a team of 3, so why not get your friends or colleagues involved in the madness. Entry is just £22 per person and not only is Kamikaze is a great way to raise money for the Change My Life Appeal it is also a fantastic team experience. With great facilities on the day, including free parking, hot food and drinks and full race commentary why not bring your family and friends along to join in the fun.

Although the course is physically demanding you do not have to be an Olympic athlete to take part – it is open to everyone whatever your age or fitness level.

If you would like to enter, either as an individual or as a team, or if you would like more information please contact me on 023 8072 1203 or email emmadeabill@roseroad.org.uk

Anyone can skydive... and I do mean anyone! As long as you are fit and well then you can take part in our Valentines Skydive on Saturday 13th February 2010 at Netheravon Airfield, near Salisbury.

You will be strapped to an expert skydiver who, after 20 minutes training will take you up in the plane to 12,000 feet. You ...will then exit the aircraft and freefall at 120 miles an hour for 35 seconds before your parachute is opened and you continue your descent at a much more leisurely pace, taking in the beautiful views on the way down, something you will never forget!

Andrea Sheppard from The Mayflower Theatre, who took part in our Valentine Skydive in 2009, says "The experience was incredible. It's not often that you get the chance to do something as exciting as this and raising money for such a fantastic local charity makes it even more worth while. I was terrified when I arrived at the airfield on the morning of my jump, but the instructors and other staff there put me at ease straight away. It was great to be part of a big group all jumping for such a great cause, I had a great day and I would recommend a skydive to anyone!"

Don't worry if you have never done this sort of thing before, everyone will be jumping together on the day and the fundraising team are on hand to provide support and advice to help you reach your fundraising target. The easiest way to raise funds is to set up a personalised webpage at www.justgiving.com you can then be sponsored using a credit or debit card and the money is sent directly to Rose Road.

Also, please ensure that you encourage everyone who sponsors you to tick the Gift Aid box. This means that Rose Road can claim an additional 25p per £1 sponsored directly from the Inland Revenue.

If you would like more information about the Summer Skydive please contact Emma Deabill, Fundraising Officer on 023 8072 1203 or email emmadeabill@roseroad.org.uk
