Ladies, it's time for round 2 pad making for the girls in Shikunga. After our raging success last month we're only a few pads off our target of 100 so we've decided to extend the program to make a few samples for the non-formal primary school as well.
Bring along your lovely selves, a machine (if you have one), scissor...s, flannel fabric, towels, whatever you have at hand for another fun afternoon! We'll be meeting at Agnes's place again but if you don't have the details contact me and I'll email them over.
Look forward to seeing you all there!Read More

Hi All! Thought I would share the new SHARE blog - I'll try and update as much as I can with info on the girls we're helping in Shikunga and also give you some facts about the area.
Check it out here: http://kenyaaidshare.blogspot.com/

The SHARE Project Thanks to all the girls who helped make pads last Sunday! It was a great effort - we made 60 pads and received a donation of 30 pair of underwear, some very useful towels, soap and stationary. Thanks to all who participated - looking forward to the next event!

Bring a sewing machine, old clothes and towels, a pair of scissors and just a pinch of good will and charity. We will be meeting in masses for a day of cutting, sewing and overlocking to make sanitary products like the world has never seen before!....in a good way.
Feel free to bring friends along – the more the sewier…...hmm….ok moving on. I will supply nibbles and soft drinks and depending on how ravaged we are after our sewing adventure, we can order Thai, Pizza or some such delicacies. (There’s also a bottle store just up the road).
See you there!
Agnes.

One of the most shocking things I've heard this year - young women in rural Kenya are being forced to stay at home for up to 8 days a month or use dried cow dung in place of sanitary pads when they get their period.
Not only does this introduce a range of health issues but also means many girls leave school never to ret...urn, further perpetuating the cycle of poverty, especially among women.
One of the best things you can do to help is spread the word - SHARE this facebook page on to all your friends to help us get as much support as we can for young women in Kenya and the rest of the developing world.
And if you have a message for the girls in Kenya please let us know! Post a reply here for us to print and take to the girls of Musango Secondary School to let them know that women all over the world care about their futures.Read More
