Authors choose pen names for a variety of reasons and with varying degrees of success. Here's what you need to know before deciding what name you will write under.

        • Arlington Nuetzel This is good. However, in the '40's and '50's, authors used pen names to protect their identities from the pulp and the porn that they were forced to write to stay in print. Publishers didn't want names to become overexposed either. I just finished a read with the author on e-mail, Facebook and IM as we discussed the Universe of writing as I read his book. What an experience.
