Review of Firefly Darjeeling black tea from The Simple Leaf by Chicago Tea Examiner, Lainie Petersen

The flavor was rich and characterized by chocolate and honey notes. The chocolate flavor was a bit weaker than what was detected in the aroma, but was still quite enjoyable. My only regret about this tea ...

Review of Shanti: an Indian green tea from The Simple Leaf by Chicago Tea Examiner, Lainie Petersen

Hard to say. I think we should encourage experimentation, certainly. But when offering package directions, it is important to recommend that which will have mass appeal.

This would make a delicious beverage cold. I was stunned by my own thought - a testament to how good the tea is and how much it affected me.

The Simple Leaf Tea This tea has such a smooth taste to it. There was no sharp kick (that I was expecting with a black tea) when it first hit my tongue. It was almost like it glided all the way down. The overall taste is earthy with a little smokiness. I didn’t find this brew bitter, but my mouth was left a little dry afterwards.

Each cup that I brew has a different history. The leaves come from different areas of the world, grown in specific conditions, picked by unique people, shipped in special packaging, handled with various amounts of care. Each cup has a story, an identity. Here is my identiTEA. What's yours?

The Simple Leaf Tea "The aroma of the brew is malty with a slight hint of smokiness in the background. The smell of this tea is rather mellow for a black tea – I really have to put my nose to the cup to find it. The liquor is a nice copper color."
