The Skeptics' Guide to the Universe
Meet Steve, Rebecca, Bob, Evan and Jay for good food, good drinks, and good conversation.
--- UPDATE ---
Holy mackerel, people, there's a metric crapload of people coming to our SGU dinner Friday night at TAM6. Which is great!
It does present a bit of a hiccup -- Trevi is a super restaurant and they're working hard to ac...commodate us.* With so many people, they would like to give us our own chunk of restaurant so we can all sit together and be rowdy little skeptics, and that means we'd have to stick to their fixed menu.
That menu is $42 plus tip and booze, and it's four courses: calimari, caesar salad, your choice of pasta dish (Cappelli al Pomodoro or Chicken Limone or Penne Puttanesca), and sorbet, plus coffee, tea, sodas, and bread. A lot of food for a low-for-Vegas-price.
If we can get 50 or so people who are cool with that set up, that would be awesome and we'd fill up the section. If there are a few (a few!) of you who spent all your money on the plane ticket to Vegas, maybe we can convince them to just let you hang out and drink or whatever. No promises, but I'm checking, because I want to include as many people as possible.
SGU will have a table at TAM, so I think I might have a sign-up sheet there on Friday, so we can make sure we have the right amount of people.
If you guys have any questions, concerns, or whatever, go ahead and post to the Meet & Greet Event Page or here on the forum.
Okay, and I just now had the chance to get a little surge of excitement about getting to TAM and seeing you all. Yay, it's going to be a blast!
See you soon,
Rebecca
*PS: Fun fact about Trevi: the events lady I spoke to is so awesome that when I called to talk about the reservation, we talked for 10 minutes about science, skepticism, SGU, etc. At one point she said, "Wait, does that mean . . . are you a scientologist or something?" I said, "Um, no actually I'm like the opposite of that." She said, "Oh, good!" I invited her to my party Saturday night and she's really excited. Anyway she's awesome, that's all.Read More
