His powerful influence among black residents helped keep the streets relatively peaceful following Martin Luther King Jr.'s assassination. Join us for a look back at the life of this civil rights leader.

Clark is best remembered for founding citizenship schools that taught people to read, then to vote, then to hold elected officials accountable. Plus, the indie rockers of Luego visit the studio to play live for a Thursday musical treat!

"The State of Things" on WUNC is delving into the life and times of Muhammad with UNC scholar Omid Safi, who says the Islamic prophet is one of the most misunderstood religious icons in the world. Omid joins us in the studio to share stories of Muhammad's political and spiritual experiences. Plus, a look at the impact of the economic recession on homelessness in North Carolina.

Three graduates of a summer residential program at Elon University share their stories and their hopes for the future. Plus, the unique role Jews have played in the history of the Tar Heel state.
