This is a legally RURAL parish: horse-riding is part of the culture here, and leave it to a Lame Duck Mayor to push the culture aside for money reasons!!!!! Pathetic!!!!!

It's nice to see good ole St. Martinville hanging in there with some meaningful efforts to hold the town. It seems to me after being gone about 20 yrs that the primary challenge St. Martinville has never addressed since the 50s-70s is that there is no new net money coming into the town (Lafayette has always been a cas...h drain where people went to spend money) - a negative cash drain other than gov't supplements from other taxpayers - I'd do everything I could (Bobby Jindal model) to focus on incentivizing private capital coming at least into the Parish to set up shop and bring some fresh cashflow to town, job spawn, and quit leaning on gov't stimulus for everything. Wow, i don;t believe this with the economy the way it is why would a town promote or offer something that is not beneficial to the community. I return to SM every year and I have seen some improvements to the city but it is all cosmetic. Can't blame it on the city though it is hard to bring big business back like when Martin Mill was there.
