DAVID GEDGE TO FRONT BBC BIG BAND
David Gedge will be performing with the BBC Big Band in Leeds on 29 April 2009. The event will take place at the West Yorkshire Playhouse as part of FUSELEEDS 09.
FUSELEEDS is a major biennial music festival that celebrates the wealth and diversity of the music scene by encouraging artistic risk-taking across genres through commissions and collaborations presented in new and exciting ways. Previous festivals have given Radiohead’s Johnny Greenwood and Sister Bliss their first opportunities to compose for an orchestra (The London Sinfonietta), presented Michael Nyman’s collaboration with Hanif Kureishi and commissioned a major new work from acclaimed sound artist Bill Fontana, to name just a few.
David will be working with arranger Tommy Laurence to adapt a selection of Wedding Present and Cinerama songs which he will then be performing with the BBC Big Band, conducted by Steve Sidwell. Tickets for the event are £17.50.
