I don't know where the Wedding Report got this stat, but $741 would only be for an "average DJ" - a person that shows up and just plays music, and MAYBE they'll be in the correct attire (tux or suit for a formal wedding). And MAYBE they won...'t drink alcohol. And MAYBE they'll speak eloquently on the mic. And MAYBE they won't steal the spotlight from the Bride & Groom. And MAYBE they'll have Planning materials to give them ahead of time. And MAYBE they'll have a Planning Meeting with them 2-4 weeks out from the wedding to make sure a timeline is created, and all the details are ironed out, so the couple has no worries, come wedding day.

More than likely, for $741, it will be a less than personable experience for the Bride & Groom.

But if a couple wants something beyond "average", because they want someone that will give them an incredible and very personal celebration, then they need to expect to pay at least double to as high as quadruple that, simply because a full time professional charges a fee that he/she can live on, and is all about QUALITY over quantity.

This is also someone that has taken the time to hone their craft by being professionally trained, and never stops working on that talent, so that their couples/clients receive a service that goes over & beyond what they expected.

                • Erik Kent I've thought about this question often, especially how many wedding business are here in New Jersey. With the variety of wedding service providers in each specific town/area (and duplicate and triplicate and more of each kind), I can't even begin to count the total number, but I'm guessing it's at least 10,000 in New Jersey alone.
