From a retired medical professional: "Let me get this straight. Obama's health care plan will be written by a committee whose head says he doesn't understand it, passed by a Congress that hasn't read it, signed by a President who smokes, funded by a treasury chief who did not pay his taxes, overseen by a surgeon genera...l who is obese, and financed by a country that is nearly broke. What could possibly go wrong?"Read More

Does the "inalienable" and "natural" right to "life" include access to affordable health-care when you get sick? And if citizens can't afford the care, is it the government's responsibility to protect and ensure citizens' right to "life" by providing such care?

Or is simply banning abortions ensuring "life", and after that it's up to the individual to survive?

That quote brings to mind a lot of interesting topics. Most people don't realize that what we are fighting over today(statism vs. individualism/capitalism) has it's roots in ancient times and is intertwined with conflict of religion and peoples throughout the ages. The Jews were persecuted in Germany for their approach to and success within the economy. They were capitalists...and they were good at it.

Also, our system of government was partly inspired by the Ancient Israelite system (pre-monarchy).

Actually even during the monarchy, the Melech (King) was subject to checks and balances by the Sanhedrin. When he screwed up, God would punish them.

The anti-capitalism comes from the Marxists who then twisted it with Theology to give us Liberation movements. Oy!
