Dinah Bastable

Dinah Bastable To the best of my knowledge, none of Wolfe's excellent, overlooked short stories are in high school textbooks. One of the nation's greatest writers. One who was even acknowleged by JB Priestley to be one of the nations's greatest writers.
Something must be done!

Richard

Richard Asheville is my hometown and Wolfe is my favorite author. One of his best combinations of words is in "Look Homeward, Angel" page 35 "He was in agony because he was proverty-stricken in symbols..."

My favorite piece EVER by Wolfe. It's in "The Complete Short Stories of Thomas Wolfe" by Skipp, editor. You can find it at a lot of libraries.

Helga Thordsen

Helga Thordsen Look Homeward, Angel is my favorite book. We have a friend in South Carolina that has Alzheimer's and though he could not remember my name, the minute I mentioned that my favorite author was THomas Wolfe, he immediately and magically was coherent and we talked about our mutual love for this timeless classic.

Ed Sauls Ijust finished Look Homeward, Angel, Of Time and The River, The Web and The Rock, and You Can't Go Home Again. Can someone suggest another of Wolfe's works that's available? I'm reading Pat Conroy now, and I really admire him. He is quite a Wolfe fan himself.

Looks like it remained inane even decades after Thomas wrote of it.

Mercifully, the filmmaker edited out the tedious unpacking and setting up. I'm sure I would have found it brilliant and fascinating if Calder were 10 and I were his mother.

Tom Stanton Embarking on the final chapters of Look Homeward, Angel. ... For decades my now-gone uncle tried to get me to read Wolfe, his favorite author. I resisted, but came upon the book recently. Wish I had read it while he was alive. ... Beautifully done.
