Services Coordinator, presented a workshop entitled “Cultural Competency in
Health Care” to the faculty and staff of the MU Thompson Center for Autism and
Neurodevelopmental Disorders on Thursday, Sept. 10, 2009. During her one-hour presentation,
Varga discu...ssed ways that we commonly define culture, ways to develop cultural
competency skills, differences in the ways that cultures view health care
issues and family dynamics, and tips on better communication when working with
