The year my sister was pregnant (1997), I made a beautiful black dress for her that didn't look like a maternity dress,to wear when she sang in the local symphony chorus Christmas concert.

Last year I made pyjamas for everyone; even the family dogs. 17 pairs of pj's later, I still loved the process of sewing.

Pin paper under the fabric when pinning on the pattern to cut so it all doesn't slip while cutting it out.

I liked it when they had the article that suggested you try this and a small project to try the technique. I learned a lot from that. I loved, loved the pyramid bags.

Ginny

Ginny I was just looking at your web site and I see you do have 2 videos I might be intersted. They are called the "best of threads" Vol 1 and Vol 2. Ot is there a book that might be good too. I'm interested in basics such as how to set in sleeves, buttonholes, zippers , pockets, darts, hems for starters.

Viktorya Thanks for the circle vest/jacket in the new issue - I just cut out a muslin, adjusting ratios and totally excited to make it in a sheer scrunchy fabric. :)

Will do - I dyed some scarf silk a beautiful green to go with the sheer fabric, which made the piece reversible. I'll post pics of the garment - the dyed fabric is on my FALL album if you want to see that. :)

Karen

Karen I am grateful for my grandmother, who always sewed for me and taught me to crochet. My mother taught me to sew and was such a perfectionist about it! I am grateful that she taught me fundamentals and that doing it RIGHT the first time was really the time-saving way in the long run. I am also very grateful for my rot...ary cutter and mat. Can't imagine piecing without them!

Mona McClendon

Mona McClendon I'm thankful that my Mom taught me to sew, knit, crochet, embroider and so much more. She always encouraged creativity in everything and I've tried to pass that on to my children. She's gone now but I still have her with me in everything she taught me.
