I spent a lot of time at the murder scene and then at the residence, outside the gates, of the McNair family. In my heart I grieved for a human being who was killed savagely. I'll miss him. When I saw the miniature basketball hoop in the driveway where Steve's kids played, it broke my heart. I walked up to the gate and expresssed my condolences to an older gentleman and then to a trio of younger men. Then I went home, empty and sad.
