Tim Walz The American Recovery and Reinvestment Act dollars funded a new stretch of 169 through St. Peter - creating jobs over the last few months. Now, it is time we head back to St. Peter and support the local businesses on the new HWY 169! http://www.mankatofreepress.com/local/local_story_320222805.html

Would you like a list of the pork in this bill? It would make Oscar Myers blush. Afganistan is a disaster and we need to get out of there Chris. Just think how much good those hundreds of billions could have done in OUR country. Im talking about the ones wasted in other countries and those wasted on the "recovery" act which has led to how many jobs... Read More created? Last I looked the jobless rate went above 10.2% and there is little proof it created that many jobs. Yes it created a few construction jobs in St Peter where I live, but who talks about the people who lost their jobs and business because people couldnt get to thier businesses.

You are absolutely right Charles. For every dollar spent by the government on a "tangible project" (which by the way has no long term economic benefit), how many dollars are wasted on pork and mismanagement? The stimulus was about political payback, not the economy. Remember the promise that it would keep unemployment UNDER 8%?!

I was a supporter of Walz. However, he decided to buck the district, the constitution, and the laws of economics this year. I am no longer supporting him and will write rebuttals on this forum directed at the lavishness known as pork barrel politics.

Owatonna's Peoples Press ran my first column disparaging the vote as unconstitutional and extremely costly.
