Cu...rrently there are more than 100,000 people waiting for a life-saving organ transplant. Of the 20,000 patients currently on the waiting list in California, 775 live in San Francisco! Countless others have received organ transplants, hitting much closer to home than you might think.
Feel the Beat's mission is to increase organ donation awareness, offer education and increase the number of organ donor registrations, with the ultimate goal of 200 new sign-ups in 2009. Our campaigh will culminate at the LoveEvolution festival on Saturday 10/3/09 with our Feel The Beat float, sponsored by California Transplant Donor Network (www.ctdn.org).
We are excited about the 50+ people that have signed up to be organ donors since the start of our campaign, but we are only a quarter of the way there! Our campaign continues with the 3rd of 6 events, where we will be hosting a Sports Basement shopping party.
Sports Basement sells high-quality fitness and camping equipment at everyday discounted prices. Whether you are a gearhead or fitness fan who has a shopping list to fulfill, or a Burner who still has a few things to pick up for the Playa this year, Sports Basement has you covered!
Sports Basement:
... is kindly offering a 10% discount off your entire purchase.
... is generously donating another 10% to our sponsor & non-profit organization, California Transplant Donor Network.
... will have delicious treats & beverages to accompany you during your shopping experience.
--> We have a special guest speaker, Megan Shaughnessy, who will be on-hand to talk about her experiences as a organ transplant recipient, along with the rest of the Feel the Beat crew.
--> Make sure to visit us at our table to ensure you get your discount and that part of your purchase will go towards our fundraising. Ask any employee to point you in the right direction if you can't find us!
--> We will have Feel The Beat t-shirts for sale ($20), custom designed by our team that look great and will make you FEEL great while supporting a worthwhile cause. Proceeds will be donated to CTDN.org.
--> If you cannot make our event, but still would like to sign up to become an organ donor, please sign up here:
http://www.donatelifecalifornia.org/feel thebeat
--> You may ask... What if I am already an organ donor? Take one minute to forward this invitation to FIVE friends and encourage them to join us at our event or to sign up to be a donor.
