Watershed Post

Watershed Post  Keep holding their feet to the fire, Times-Journal. Appalling.

As regular readers of this website will no doubt remember, Tom Murray -- Cobleskill's N-bomb-dropping, national-news-making town supervisor -- has been facing some righteous citizen outrage lately. Much of it is coming from a group calling itself ACCORD (A Community Committee On Respect and Diversit...

Times-Journal Who out there is taking kids to college for the first time?

Beaver Thomas Foland Jr.

Beaver Thomas Foland Jr. Hi, I have been hearing alot of grief about not having the winner of the fair american idol contest in the Times Journal.Heather Foland whom is my daughter made the paper last year for finishing second, its taking her five long years of hard work to get her as a upcoming local singer, song writer to get to the first p...lace position.I feel she deserves her day in the paper as a local citizen of Schoharie County to honor her as winner in her local hometown fair. I also believe that this is the first year since the American Idol contest has started at the fair that the winner of the American Idol contest has not made the paper. Is this really fair to a young member of the community?

    • Cj Woreth Congrats to Heather!! I totally understand where you're coming from. My daughter, Stepanie, was top student at Boces - not just for her major, criminal justice, but the whole program. Any coverage? Nope!

Congrats to Heather! I understand your frustration, but to play devils advocate for just a minute, sometimes its hard for the TJ to cover everything. They are only so many people. What I have done in the past is write up our own press relea...ses and they are pretty good at putting those in. That being said, I don't recall past years (as I am getting old) but if that is the case where everyone has been covered but this year, then you make a valid point in saying that it is shame she wasn't in there. Again....CONGRATS to Heather!!See More

Times-Journal How go the tomatoes?

August 13 at 4:28am · Comment ·
    • Betty Pillsbury No, I use my thumb! Slice the tomato and the gelatinous seed cavity fairly easily pops out just by sliding your thumb into it.

Anyone who thinks that any type of "slur" against someone else is "normal" should start thinking about what "slurs" could be said about them. "Treat others as you would expect to be treated" This one statement, if followed to the letter, wo...uld completely change humanity. Defending ones actions on the basis that "everyone does it" does not excuse the action. Do not Condone bad behavior. Just like anyone else, elected officials need to leave their personal lives and their bias at home. Carrying oneself with self awareness, dignity, respect and pride should be a pre-requisite for any elected official as they are elected by the people for all of the people. When an elected official insults any of the population, he or she has failed to represent the people and therefore has failed to to do the job to which he or she was appointed.See More
