Timothy Bishop

Timothy Bishop Today take a moment to honor and thank all those who have served our country. I'll be joining our vets in Sound Beach, Smithtown and Calverton Nat'l Cemetary.

Keith Tilley

Keith Tilley Hey Trish, if want to be taken seriously you might want to tone down the rhetoric and check your logic and facts. The true power of politics is persuasion and by acting the way you are you’re not changing anyone’s mind. Just a tip.

Also, just for your info:

1. The 1st District of NY doesn’t cover the whole “county”

2. It is pretty pretentious to claim to speak for the “people” because you don’t speak for me.

Chuck

Chuck Trish if he makes you sick, I hope you have good insurance! Congressman Bishop has done a great job and I truly appreciate all the work he has put in to build an effective health care system.

Trish Noto

Trish Noto Congressman Bishop, You are a disgrace and will be voted out in 2010! You have not listened to the people and that we DO NOT WANT government run health care! We were at the town hall meeting and you allowed SEIU and ACORN to attend and not the citizens of this county. They are not even residents! How dare you??? You make me sick and YOU WILL PAY IN 2010!!!!!!

Trish: If you truly believe that Congressman Bishop is a disgrace for voting his conscience, for voting to help the thousands who lose health care every day, for voting to try to curb the costs that are bankrupting families across the nation, well then so be it. I find his efforts to actually stand up against the false claims and outrageous attacks... Read More heartening. His goals to hep his constituents, as he has for years, doesn't make him a disgrace or a terrible person, it merely makes him a true representative.

I was also at the town hall meeting as well and it was clear that the large majority of attendees were from our district. Just because someone is a member of a union doesn't mean they don't live here. Were there a few people who attended from outside of the district? Most likely, but to attack the Congressman for his openness in having a town hall seems a little extreme. I cannot wait to support the Congressman in the 2010 midterms and I hope that he is re-elected so he can continue to serve the best interests of his constituents just as he has since he was elected in 2002.

Your congressman is a disgrace and does not represent most of the residents that he "represents". You people need to stop relying on the gov't for a handout! Get a job and take care of your own family! What's the best interests of the people? Give, give and more giving. Take, take and more taking from me the taxpayer!!! Our taxes are through the roof because of people like you. You rely on the gov't to take care of you! I don't want to pay for you!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

You do realize that this bill will lower/stave off increases in costs for the insured too? Promoting competition and placing new regulations on the insurance industry will only help you. Are you really fond of the idea that the company that controls whether you get treatment for your illnesses stands to profit for denying you that treatment you need with practically no checks on their growth?

Thanks Tim, for voting against the Stupak amendment, and for the Health Care Reform bill. Now PLEASE help us restore protections for women's reproductive rights when the bill is finalized! Many of us who have reproductive choice insurance coverage now will likely LOSE it if this amendment stays. Women represent the maj...ority of all Democrats, and should not be sacrificed to appease those who would return us to the days of coathanger abortions....Read More

Jacob

Jacob Rep. Bishop,

One of the reasons I voted for you - and will work to re-elect you - is your willingness to speak out about and vote for legislation like the comprehensive health reform package that just passed the House with your support. Thank you for doing such a good job for your constituents and for the whole country.

I hope you vote YES on the Health Care Reform Act tomorrow. It's not perfect, but it is a start.

In the future, the public option should be expanded to allow all Americans to participate in it, rather than just 5%.

Timothy Bishop Today, I attended a wonderful family reunion with Marine Lance Cpl. Wagenhauser and his family. I was so glad to help him come home so he can meet his newborn baby. They are a wonderful young family and I have no doubt this is where he needed to be.

Timothy Bishop Today, the Department of Energy announced investments in potential game changers, the ARPA-E program. Many will turn out to be duds, but one of these ideas may change the world.

- The Department of Energy today announced major funding for 37 ambitious research projects - including some that could allow intermittent energy sources like wind and solar to provide a steady flow of power, or use bacteria to produce automotive fuel from sunlight, water and carbon dioxide.

Timothy Bishop One aspect of the tightening purse strings of private lenders that has been overlooked by many is the availability of student loans. At a time when many people are returning to college to change their career course, credit is drying up from private lenders. This is one reason I am pushing for more federal loans to be available for students and to help reduce escalating education costs.

More college students are relying on federal student loans instead of increasingly scarce private ones as tuition costs continue to rise.

Students in Denmark go to college for free. They are even paid a small monthly sum to go to school.

not only denmark, but norway, and i'm sure, other european countries. even those who have mostly private pay colleges seem to be less expensive than here . Italy, for instance. we will have trouble competing globaly if a large percentage of the population find college costs out of reach.

Robert Hussein MacLachlan Congressman Bishop, I too am troubled by your signature to the letter to the FCC discouraging "net neutrality" reform and request that you rethink this position.

I just heard from www.freepress.net.. They said that Tim Bishop signed a letter to the F.C.C. OPPOSING their efforts to protect net neutrality. Net Neutrality means keeping the Internet free from blocking, censorship and discrimination. I am troubled and upset that our congressman would not support free unfettered acce...ss to the internet. Mr. Bishop, please explain your position. Thank you. | Free Press
