Tissa Hami

Tissa Hami This is my dad's favorite joke. It's a wonder I ever became a comedian.... "If you see a man opening the car door for his wife, either his car is new, or his wife is."

Dear Verizon: When I called and asked you to ADD a text messaging plan to my cell phone, I was not in fact asking you to CANCEL my text messaging capabilities. Yet you did just that. WTF?

Tissa Hami E-mail sent to my manager by a young Muslim woman: "I am not sure how old Tissa is, I am sure she is 'on the shelf' otherwise why would she undertake this kind of 'career', I am a sister and I am aware how hard it is to get married but honestly did you really need to get into comedy?"

Awww, thanks, everyone, for your words of support! I found her comment more bemusing than offensive. As for being "on the shelf" -- well, my mother pretty much thinks the same thing. :)

I should also say that the comment directly above, which appears to be from me, is actually from my sister. (She has administrative rights on this page.)

Tissa Hami This is the line that got the biggest response/laugh/applause at my reading last week: "Nobody cares about your baby."

I've seen a lot of people doing a lot of things this week that I just don't understand. This is an open letter to those people. Here we go......

You are hilarious!

I think that Dutch pram is more than $1000 when you buy the obligatory accessories (rain cover, etc.) and of course the oh-so-fashionable custom-designed fabric. Which your kid will promptly puke, drool, pee, and poo all over, necessitating many nanny-hours to keep it looking designer-fresh.

Re: swine flu vaccine. The Dutch ... See Moregovernment have apparently managed to get hold of double the amount they need (in case people need two jabs to get it effective), so I am really struggling to understand why the U.S. has a shortage. Poor planning, bad negotiating, or just too large of a population?

Organic NUTritionist recently wrote a blog entry called "What can cause you to be overweight?", in which he/she mentioned Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome (PCOS). Since September is PCOS awareness month, I wanted to share my story in hopes of raising awareness about this disorder.

Loved and respected the article Tissa. When people like you speak out about things we think we should hide - it makes everyone more able to be honest about what makes us - both the things we chose and the things we don't. You are strong, hilarious, brave and wonderful. Thank you for sharing this.
