TTBOOK's Canadian producer Doug Gordon here.

Just finished mixing a show for this weekend..."Coming of Age Through Music."
The show features Anne Strainchamps' interview with Lavinia Greenlaw re. "The Importance of Music to Girls"; Steve "Still Buzzed from the Andre Agassi Interview" Paulson's interview with the legendar...y Ralph Stanley; Jim Fleming's interview with Nick Hornby re. his new novel, "Juliet, Naked"; and a profile of the Welsh singer/songwriter that Nick Lowe describes as "the missing link between Paolo Conte and Howlin' Wolf" -- the one and only Geraint Watkins.

Check out Geraint Watkins in action here...

Geraint has been featuring the Brian Wilson/Van Dyke Parks song in his act for some time. Saxophonist Renaud Pion is a friend of Van Dyke's so it seem only natural that he should play on the song even if he'd never heard it before. ...

To the Best of Our Knowledge Steve Paulson here - It's not often I get a real buzz from doing an interview, but I just got one. I've played tennis my whole life, so talking to Andrei Agassi was lots of fun. No, we didn't get into crystal meth - does anybody really care? - but I did hear plenty about his raging dad. And my kids - who normally don't care two figs about what we do on the radio - badgered me for autographs.

For many soldiers and Marines, war is not fundamentally about the mission. War is not really about the enemy. It's not even about patriotism. War is about the man to the left and right of you. War is about your buddy. ...

To the Best of Our Knowledge Just recorded a great interview for the Nov. 22nd show on magic: Persi Diaconis ran away from home at 14 to become a traveling magician. Magic got him interested in probability theory, which required him to learn calculus, and today he's a world reknowned mathematician whose work on card shuffling and coin tossing is helping decode DNA.

Attached to Battery E, 2nd BN, 11th Marines, I was in-country in April 2004. I just finished listening to the program, and I can't thank everyone at TTBOOK enough for producing this series, and for the unsparing honesty and respect shown to the families of the fallen and the survivors who keep the memories of their Marine brothers alive. From the bottom of my heart, thank you.

Producer's note: Hope you'll give a lesson to the DFW show this weekend. During the interview with David's sister, we had to pause production - everyone was crying too hard to continue, from his sister Amy, to Anne, to our engineer Caryl. And listening to the exclusive reading from "This is Water" takes away some o...f the bitterness left from his suicide and leaves a little sweetness in its place. Hope you enjoy.Read More
