Davina Adams Saunders Wow - I love your work - so creative and talented! I really like your cupcake towers that look like boxes stacked - I would like to copy that idea for a birthday party. Are those just square gift boxes? Is there anything inside of them (for added support?) Typically what size squares do you need to have a row of cu...pcakes going around each tier? Made this for my friend, a Canadian chef marrying his American restaurant hostess wife. He asked me to make him as a beaver in his chef jacket/hat and her as an eagle with a server's cloth across her arm, to represent their countries as animals.
I decided to buy modelling clay instead of trying to do this in gumpaste o...r fondant. I'd never done much figurine sculpting before, but it wasn't that hard I guess. Pretty fun. (It did only take 2 hours to make the cake but about 5 hours to make the figurines though, so I guess I know my forte, haha!)
Used my new Wilton Giant Cupcake pan for it, SO much easier than carving. Great purchase. I covered the base of the cupcake in chocolate fondant and did the top portion in buttercream. The cherry is fondant too.
