ABOUT ME:
My name is Brenda Dubilowski, I am 31 years old and I am a wife to a wonderful husband and a mother to 4 beautiful children. I work as a Real Estate Agent with Re/Max Excellence out of Edmonton, Alberta. I used to ride horses full-time working cows and running barrels. Today, I love to fill my day with a good game of golf or some camping with the kids.
As a Realtor and a person with MS, I had decided to become actively involved with the MS Society in any way I can. I help to raise money for the cure as well I host a support page on Facebook for family and friends of people with MS, basically, anybody who has ben touched by it leaving me to name my Page 'Touched by MS'.
I first learned of my MS in the summer of 2002 after getting symptoms that included numbness in my face on the left side and radiated to the left side of my head and down my left arm and left leg. The long and tedius process of diagnosing MS seemed to take over my life and my thinking. With attacks coming and going that brought on different symptoms each time making my life unpredictable of what the next day, month and year would bring to myself and my family. The worst of my attacks happened last year in June when I couldn't stand on my own 2 feet for 24 hours and becoming hospitalized with aggressive steroid treatments. I could go days or months without a single symptom or they can just come on and take over my life and forcing me to stay limited in the things I do. I think the most frustrating thing about this disease is that I am still at the stage (although very thankfully) where not others can see the suffering I have gone through and they look at me and say 'Well, you look healthy or great or in shape', but yet they haven't seen my husband having to change my clothes, feed me or cut my meat during the hard times at my lowest. When I am the most sick, I'd rather just stay home and hide out so others don't see me.
My symptoms consist mostly numbness, pain, speech problems (when at worst) and breathing/swallowing problems & Tremors. My symptoms or attacks come on mostly at times with HOT weather or stressful times. As long as I manage my stress & health, I am so far making it through with no immune suppressing drug therapies. I only take meds for the symptoms.
