Tracy Hickman Getting ready for Gencon!

Tracy Hickman
Gen Con Indy is the original, longest running, best attended, gaming convention in the world. For over 40 years, Gen Con Indy has been setting the trend and breaking records. Last year, more than 28,000 unique attendees experienced Gen Con Indy. The biggest complaint we hear is that there is simply too much to do, see,... and experience. Get lost in a phantasm of art exhibits. Stare at jaw-dropping costumes, or better yet, wear one of your own. Meet the movers and the shakers in the gaming industry. Check out the newest games and get a sneak peek at the latest editions.
And, of course, play your heart out with fellow enthusiasts in a community that understands your passion. What you'll experience at Gen Con Indy is nothing short of IT. You know, whatever "It" is for you? This is IT! Get ready to get there.

Tracy Hickman Margaret Weis and Tracy Hickman -- Tuesday, Feb. 24 at 6 p.m. in the Abbey Room. Since 1984, they have jointly authored over thirty books. Bones of the Dragon is the first book in the Dragonships of Vindras series—and an introduction to a new world, a new cast of heroes and heroines, and a new adventure by the creators... of no less than five New York Times bestselling epic fantasy series. With Bones of the Dragon, these two storytelling masters have conjured a rich new world of Viking-like warriors who sail the seas in ships powered by dragons in search of untold treasure. When strife and chaos threatens their world, however, they are duty-bound to follow their gods on a fantastic quest that will not only determine the fate of mortals—but the fate of the gods as well.
Come join us for an evening of fantasy and story.

For twenty-seven years, “Life, the Universe & Everything: The Marion K. ‘Doc’ Smith Symposium on Science Fiction and Fantasy,” has contributed to an enriched BYU education by bringing ...together the finest local and national authors, editors, scholars, and artists in speculative fiction. It is the only student-run symposium of its type in the U.S., and it proudly maintains a tradition of free admission and excellent content. Begun by scholar and genre visionary Marion “Doc” Smith in the early 1980s, the symposium now honors his memory and continues his legacy. As the title suggests, there is nothing that falls outside the realms of speculation, and creativity in science fiction and fantasy is not limited to the probable, but extends beyond the possible into the impossible, the improbable, and the imaginative.
The purposes of this symposium are first, to provide a venue for scholarly examination of these genres; second, to accommodate and facilitate personal contact between aspiring and professional practitioners in the field; and third, to combine the depth of an academic symposium with the excitement of a science fiction convention. We are passionately devoted to the premise that the thought experiment of speculative fiction, in its breadth, variety, and color, is a rich personal and social laboratory for exploring the spiritual foundations of our temporal world.
