Thanks to prompting from some friends, I'm finally getting around to starting a mini-sewing circle. Except for the first one there may only be three of us, so it will be more of a triangle. And some of us may be knitting or practicing embroidery or just mending. But you get the idea...

Transition Southampton Have clothes stuck in a drawer because you haven't got the know-how or motivation to fix them? Bought new clothes because an old top had a miniscule hole? No more! We're starting a mending/sewing/knitting club. You can too! http://transitionsouthampton.org/index.php?option=com_content&view=category&layout=blog&id=34&Itemid=89

Adam, have you taken a look at the new Southampton scheme? Fellow Transitioner Thea Bjaaland is working on it in Southampton--the idea is to get people who don't cycle at all to try at least 10 min. Check it out here: http://www.southampton...cyclechallenge.org.uk/ and see if you can get your employer to sign up.

And yes, improving the infrastructure is essential. Are you involved in the Transport subgroup of Transition by any chance? If not, e-mail transport@transitionsouthampton.org to see what they are planning and how your ideas could be implemented. Maybe some joint work with CTC and Southampton Cycling Campaign?
