Mika Wilson-Everest Is there a group which helps with stray cats? I think I remember "Un-Cats" or something but can't find info on any groups in TC for strays.

We live in the woods, and have 2 stray cats (plus our own 3) hanging out outside. I have befriended the one (took about one year to do so) and am working on the other. I would like to get them neutered but capturing is an issue due to 1) them being here at sporadic times and 2) grabbing them and putting them in a cat... carrier w/out getting attacked is a concern (just tried but he escaped from the carrier before I could close the door to it and scratched my husband pretty good as he held the cat carrier).
Any ideas of local groups that may help? The one would be able to be adopted I think as he is becoming friendlier and we will continue to provide food/kindness until hopefully they can be neutered/treated but would love input/ideas please!

Cheryl Pantano I have an 8 year old German Shepard/Retriver mix. She has a seizure disorder and hypothyroidism. Just recently she started having hind leg weekness. I decreased her seizure medicine thinking this might be the cause. I had bloodwork done and all her medications are in the therapeutic range. My vet tried putting her on s...ome arthritis med but that did not help either. She is very unsteady on her feet, her back legs cross at times, and she falls easily. She has no stability. I am taking her back to the Vet this week. I am afraid she may have some kind of degenerative spine disease or tumor. Anyone have any experience with this. It is so frustrating and heartbreaking!!!

June McGrath Hi Jen thanks fot the news letter, it is chuck full of great stuff. Those puppies we took sat at crystal mountain turned out to have parvo. I am heart sick as i have lost one this evening. If only people would spay/neuter and vaccinate what a nicer place it would be for the animals!!

Hello fellow pet friends!
I just wanted everyone to know about my pet sitting service. I use to work at a vet clinic that also boarded animals and I always felt so horrible for them because they were so nervous and they had to stay in pens most of the day. I know my pets are most comfortable in their home. So last summ...er, I decided to start up a service that allowed pet parents to let their pet kids stay at home but still be cared for while their parents are out of town or at work all day.
I just wanted to post something here to let everyone know that there is a service out there for your kids! If anyone needs more info, please contact me at HollysHappyPets@gmail.com!

Misty Avery Thank you for sending the email out about the senior lab! Hopefully someone can help!

Traverse City Pet Friends Magazine Does everyone out there know about Dogbook and Catbook? I posted my fur kid and now I have to figure out how to get back to the page.

Becky Does anyone know of anyone that fosters dogs? - not needed because of abandonment or neglect but because the owners are having to move suddenly and their new place doesn't allow pets. They hope for it to be a short term measure before they can get a new place that allows pets.

I was just on the AuSable Valley Animal Shelter website and was reading that their donations are down about 26% for this year. If you have a few dollars to spare, think about sending them to Grayling. I will tonight in memory of my great aunt who just passed away. Their website is http://www.ausablevalleyanimalshelter.or g/

The Animal Shelter of Crawford County (dba AuSable Valley Animal Shelter) is an IRS recognized 501(c)(3) non-profit organization. In July of 2007, we moved into our brand new shelter, just a few miles north of Grayling, Michigan, adjacent to the fairgrounds. ...

Traverse City Pet Friends Magazine In a few weeks, I should have a lovely fenced-in area for my dog to run around in - that is if Miss Dig sanctions it, the fencing police approve my permit and the diggers don't run into my septic tank. In the good old days in which I should have been born

Traverse City Pet Friends Magazine So my cat wouldn't eat any of the fish I had for lunch today - but he was all over my Krispy Kreme yesterday.

Karen Sirkle Wheeler Hi Jen, Great to see TC Pet Friends on Facebook! :-)

Traverse City Pet Friends Magazine FINALLY got my "stuff" together and I'm having Home Depot quote my dog fence for the back yard. Now, before I proceed, I need to dig down about 2' at the corners to make sure I don't run into the septic field - or the plans may come to a halt!
