Tristin Mock
I wanted to share an uplifting story of people involved with the peace movement. I have now had the honor of joining a weekly peace vigil in La Grande that has been occurring for several years. This dedicated group of activists is out every week to keep people's attention on the fact that we still are fighting wars in Afghanistan and Iraq. The blazing heat of summer is a welcome change after the freezing winter which lasted longer than usual this year.
An ironic twist is the homophobic response they get. While I was in attendance no one who passed by expressed support of the invasions. However, there were a few people who shouted homophobic comments mixed with obscenities at us. This was most likely sparked by the large rainbow peace flags that were being flow. I guess the they couldn't read.
A local film company has decided to start filming the vigil. I will add footage to my main campaign site and my Facebook page as it becomes available.
